It's rich. It's sweeping. And it's definitely Bond-ian. But is it catchy? But, ultimately, it does a far better job at conforming to the form's cliches that it does pushing it to any thrilling new heights. "Skyfall," co-written by Adele and frequent collaborator Paul Epsworth, employs the pricey power of a 77-piece orchestra, recorded at the esteemed Abby Road Studio. Their participation insures a depth of sound, and a lushness in arrangement, Bond theme fans will find familiar. More, Adele has the vocal heft we're used to in this hallowed world. In fact, she may own the biggest voice to grace this spy thriller realm since Dame Shirley Bassey, who has boomed through no fewer than three Bond themes over the last five decades.
